On Wednesday 8th November, three of our Year 9 students, Chloe, Mischa and Rhys, travelled to Preston with Dr Breen and Mr Haycocks, to take part in the Grand Final of the Great Lancashire Debate. The event took place in the huge Council Chamber at County Hall in Preston.

Our team won the South Ribble Borough trophy recently and out of the 14 boroughs of Lancashire, we were also chosen to attend the Grand Final and only 6 schools are chosen for this.

The team’s speech was on ‘Youth Crime’ and how Lancashire should tackle this through academic support, improved school funding, massive investment in CAMHS and, of course, eliminating poverty in the region by encouraging sustainable industries in the county and creating well paid jobs and levelling up. They were tremendous and we won the whole competition and named the ‘Inaugural High School Winners’ of what will become an annual competition!!!!

This is an enormous achievement, and we are so incredibly proud of Chloe, Mischa and Rhys!

The Leader of the County Council will be coming into school to present our team with their trophy once it's engraved.
