After their success in the second round of the English Schools cup last week on Wednesday 6th October, our Year 9 boys faced Bishop Rawstorne in the first round of the Lancashire County Cup, this week.

It was another sublime performance from the Balshaw's boys who played a quality of football not often seen at the Year 9 age level. When in possession, they kept the ball extremely well, playing for each other with confidence. They created attack after attack and at half time were 4 - 0 up after some well taken goals.

In the second half it was more of the same with quality possession work and building of the play into attacks. What was equally impressive was their defending as a team, which prevented Bishop Rawstorne from creating any chances.

The game finished 7 - 0 after hat-tricks from James B and Matthew J as well as a single goal from Josh R. The Year 9 boys now progress to the second round of the County competition where they will face either Fisher Moore or Bacup & Rawtenstall Grammar School.

Well done to all the boys who were involved.

Mr Davidson.
